The play entitled "Deacon Duff " and given by the faculty and th*. members of the high school on Thursday evening before Christ mas was one of the best plays ever given in Four Oaks. It was thor oughly enjoyed by every one pres ent. Wo hope the faculty will d - aide to give another one soon. The Baptist church has recently installed a circulating heating sys tem. Gives Dinner Party. “ ^ Four Oaks, Jan. 9.—One of the most delightful occasions of the holidays was the dinner party giv en by Mrs. J. II. Strickland on Wednesday evening in honor of her protege-, Miss Meta Shaffer cf Falls Church, Va. After the gtiests arrived they enjoyed an hour of music and dancing. Special music was ren dered by Misses Lewis and Stanly. Tho drawing room and living rocrn, thrown ensuite, were deco rated in pines and forest leaves.
